Sunset Church of Christ Leadership:
At Sunset, we model our leadership from examples given in the Biblical church. We believe strongly that Christ is the leader ("Head") of this congregation. We attempt to discern his direction from diligent study of his messages. We ("the Body") then assume many roles in order to carry out Christ's message. At Sunset, we have no outside, central authority ... we govern our direction from this body. We have appointed Elders to govern the overall direction of this body, Deacons to carry out the Elders vision, overseeing subdivided areas of work, and finally Ministry Leaders who guide specific ministries. Of course, no leadership has meaning unless we follow, and we ask all to participate ... and hopefully take on leadership roles when ready.

Jeff Hinson (Elder)
Jeff Hinson was born in Linden, Tennessee on March
24, 1962. He grew up there, hunting and fishing, in the scenic hills
of middle Tennessee. In his third year of college at Middle Tennessee
State University, in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, he was asked by a friend
to give a ride to a young lady attending college at David Lipscomb
University in Nashville. Her name was Karen Perkins. Jeff and Karen
walked together in their friends’ wedding and they married two years
later on July 6, 1985. They have three children: Jarrod, Andrew, and
Megan. Jarrod and his wife Katie have blessed them with one granddaughter,
Mackenzie and one grandson, James.
Karen grew up in, what later became, the Sunset Church of Christ and Jeff was baptized there in 1984. He became an elder in 2004. A favorite verse of Jeff is Philippians 4:12-13 “ I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength.”

Pedro Pardo (Elder) Pedro Pardo was born in Bogotá, Colombia. He graduated as an Industrial Engineering and obtained a Master degree in Business Administration. He was baptized in New York in 1980. He moved to Miami two years later, where he married his sweet heart Alicia. They have two children, Bryan and Vanessa. He has been a member of Sunset Church of Christ since 1992, where he became an elder in 2004. His passion is to spread the good news of Jesus. |

Paco Perez (Elder)
Paco Perez was born in Havana, Cuba in 1960. He immigrated to the United States when he was 9 months old. He began attending Atlantic Christian School in 1973. Paco was invited by a friend to a youth group meeting at the Central Church of Christ. He became interested in what was being taught and began to study the Bible with a friend. Paco was baptized on January 3, 1977 by Bill Peeples, an elder of the Central Church. Paco’s wife, Nancy, began attending the Central Church when she was a nursing student at Jackson Memorial Hosp. Paco and Nancy were married in 1984. They Nancy have three children, Heather, Tim, and Tiffany. Heather has blessed them with a son-in-law, Max Lopez. Paco and Nancy attended the Central Church of Christ until it merged with the South Miami Church in 1985 to form the Sunset Church of Christ. Paco became an elder in 2004.

Bob Perkins (Elder)
Bob Perkins was born and reared in Texas by Christian Parents. He was baptized in 1946, and attended Abilene Christian College (now University) in 1954, where he met his future wife, Barbara Jones. He transferred to Texas Tech in his sophomore year, and graduated with a BS degree in Park Management. He and Barbara were married on November 28, 1957, and moved to Miami in July, 1959, where he worked for the Dade County Park and Recreation Department for 32 years, working his way up to Assistant Director. They are the parents of Kevin (deceased) and Karen Hinson. They attended the former Central Church of Christ from 1959 to 1963, and the former South Miami Church of Christ from that time until 1985, when these two congregations merged to form the Sunset Church of Christ.
Bob served first as a deacon, and has served as an elder since 1976.

Bob Sistik (Elder)
Bob and Julie Sistik were both born and raised in Miami Florida. Bob was baptized at Central Church of Christ in Miami on January 26 1972. He graduated from Abilene Christian University with a degree in biology and retired from the Miami Beach fire Department in 2007 after
25 years as a firefighter/paramedic. Bob married the former Julie Peeples in a beautiful ceremony in the mountains of North Carolina, where they still enjoy spending time. They have four children. The oldest, Jake is married to Danielle. They have blessed us with two grandchildren, Chloe and Noah. Jessica and Adam are attending college. Josh is a teenager living at home. The family enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, and being with friends. God has blessed us with
wonderful friendships. Some we've known for 40 years, some we are just meeting. All are gifts from God. A verse that is special to our family is Proverbs 3 verse 5 and 6." Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your path straight."
