Visitor Questions:
- For Visitors:
- This section is a brief attempt to address some questions that you may have, especially if you are planning a visit. Of course, feel free to
call us or e-mail us with questions we haven't answered here. We at Sunset believe that Jesus offers a salvation that is available to every
man, woman, and child. It is clear that God is not concerned about our nationality, the color of our skin, our notoriety, our jobs, or our fortunes.
Only your willingness to seek a relationship with him. We therefore invite every seeking man, woman, and child into our church family. You will be welcome and welcomed.
- Why the Name "Church of Christ"?
- We simply want to be known as Christians. We proudly carry the name of our Lord on our building and in our hearts. We hope, as much as possible,
to avoid the entrapments of the "denomination". We develop no creed or belief system other than that which is plainly stated in the Bible. We strive to be known
to speak "where God speaks" and remain silent concerning the issues "where God is silent". You will find this building filled with people (Believers) who seek to study and
implement Biblical teaching (Inspired Words from God) into our daily life (Daily Service).
- How Do I Become A Member of Sunset?
-
We welcome any baptized believer in Jesus Christ to join our family. Visit us, plug in to our activities, and join when you are ready.
- Do I Need To Be A Member To Attend Sunset?
-
Absolutely not!!! We welcome all genuine seekers to attend our services and all activities. You are our honored guest.
- What Can I Expect In Your Worship Services?
-
Welcome & Announcements - We take the time greet our members and visitors. We have a paper bulletin and announcements
to inform the congregation about events and needs that exist. Please leave us your name and contact information in the attendance pad
so that we can answer your questions better.
-
Prayer - Sunset Church of Christ believes that God asks for and answeres prayer. Every service will offer multiple chances for group
and individual prayer. We also welcome visitors and members to bring their prayer needs before the group. There is always an Elder, Minister, or Member
willing to pray individually with you.
-
Music - We believe that music is an important part of every worship service and encourage everyone to sing and lift praises to God.
We at Sunset have made the local choice of 'A capella' music (choral music without instrumental accompanyment). Our leaders feel that this is most
representative of the music found in the New Testament church.
-
Communion - At Sunset, we participate in the Lord's Supper every Sunday. We welcome all believers to participate. We celebrate the
sacrifice of Christ by taking in bread and juice. These emblems will be passed around. Prayer and meditation during this time make it a special part of every service.
-
Offering - We take the time to collect financial offerings from our members. This collection gives everyone who participates the opportunity
to participate in the works of God through our Church. Our pooled resources are used to support all aspects of ministry. As a visitor, you are welcome
to contribute, but are in no way expected to participate.
-
Sermon - Every service will include a guided, practical lesson from God's Word.
-
Fellowship Time - Following our service, please join us for snacks and coffee. We would love to meet you and get to know you better.
- Is There a Dress Code?
-
No. At Sunset, we certainly attempt to honor God with our behavior and attire. We do not judge people by external appearance.
- Am I Expected To Donate Money?
-
We believe that Financial giving (giving back to God) is a basic tenant for the Spiritual development of a member of God's family, although
we do not enforce financial giving on anybody. There is certainly no expectation of money from our visitors. You are welcome to contribute if you
wish, but we recommend that you get to know our ministry interests before considering any donation.
- How Can I Learn More About Christ, the Bible, and Your Church?
-
We consider education one of our primary callings. We provide you with this web site and resources, read them at your leisure.
We teach in all worship services and provide additional teaching in classes throughout the week. Finally, we welcome your request
for individual study.
